Gautham Vasudev Menon has not dropped ‘Yohan Adhyayam Ondru’ as the industry buzz seemed to suggest, but the movie will start with a new hero.
After Vijay walked out of the project, Gautham, zeroed in on Mahesh Babu who plays the protagonist. This will be a trilingual- Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
“The shooting of Yohan Adhyayam Ondru will start soon. It will be a stylish action entertainer,” says Gautham, whose ‘Neethane En Ponvasantham’ will be released soon.
Gautham will also start on another project, with Suriya in the lead. “The story is set in the backdrop of 1920s,” says Gautham.

A strong gossip making rounds in T-town is that Tollywood Superstar Mahesh Babu is all set to team up with director Gautham Menon for a Tamil-Telugu-Hindi trilingual soon. The script, its being said, is that of Yohan, which he was earlier supposed to do with Ilayathalapathy Vijay. Mahesh will play a role of simple down to earth guy from South goes on to become a big Mafia don in New York. Gautam’s favorite heroine, Samantha is likely to bag a female lead in this flick as well.
Gautham Menon confirms the news saying, “I had narrated the script of Yohan to Mahesh Babu recently and he liked it very much. So, we decided to work on it. We want to make it as a trilingual and I’m very happy about it. I was actually supposed to work with Mahesh in one of my earlier projects as well, but things didn’t work out then. We will start work on this trilingual as soon as we complete our other projects. We are yet to work out the finer details.”
Gautham, in an interview to a magazine, had said that though Vijay had loved the script of Yohan, he felt it was too westernised and wanted to adapt it to suit the taste of the local audience. When that didn’t work out, the two parted ways amicably. Now, Gautham tells that the film that he is doing with Mahesh will not be titled Yohan. He adds, “I will tweak the script a little and we will finalize a new title soon. We will soon be making an announcement regarding the project.”
